چکیده
• Tests and numerical analysis conducted on concrete-filled double skin sections in bending. Applicability of existing structural design provisions assessed. Use an effective concrete strength recommended for higher grades. Modification to rules shown provide improved capacity predictions. The performance circular tubular (CFDST) cross-sections with stainless steel outer tubes has been examined herein based experiments modelling. A laboratory testing programme comprising a total 22 four-point bending tests was performed seven CFDST varying details the test rig procedures, as well key observations, including failure moment capacities, moment–curvature curves modes, are fully reported. modelling then carried out; finite element (FE) model first established replicate adopted conduct parametric study acquire further FE data over broader spectrum material strengths cross-section slendernesses. Based combined set results, general carbon members current European American codes were evaluated their applicability studied cross-sections. Overall, results revealed that both yield unduly conservative (less so grades) scattered resistance predictions, though some resistances predicted from code unsafe side. Modifications, reduction factor η reflect reduced relative effectiveness using grades modified stress distribution considering partial spread plasticity, proposed improve consistency Finally, reliability demonstrated through statistical analyses.

Simplified Approach for Torsional Analysis of Non-homogenous Tubes with Non-circular Cross-sections
In this paper a method is presented for torsional analysis of non-homogeneous tubes with arbitrarily shaped cross-sections. A previously presented method based on Bredt’s theory is extended to achieve formulas for torsional analysis. Shear modulus varies through the thickness according to a power law distribution. To validate the accuracy of the presented formulas for angle of twist and shear s...

Herein paper compares the analytical model with the FEM based numerical model of the axisymmetric bending of circular sandwich plates. Also, the paper describes equations of the circular symmetrical sandwich plates bending with isotropic face sheets and the nonlinear elastic core material. The method of constructing an analytical solution of nonlinear differential equations has been described. ...
متن کاملTesting and numerical modelling of Steel-Concrete-Steel with stud bolts connectors subject to push-out loading
Steel-concrete-steel (SCS) sandwich panels are composed of two steel plates with low thicknesses and high densities and strengths and one thick layer between both plates with low strength and density known as core that is composed of concrete. Cohesive material-epoxy resin or shear connectors are usually used to connect the plates to the concrete core. SCS sandwich composites are being develope...
متن کاملAxial Crush of Metallic and Hybrid Energy Absorbing Thin-walled Tubes with Polygonal Cross-sections: Numerical Analysis
Material properties and geometry are two important design parameters which their effects should be considered in a crashworthiness analysis. In this paper, the axial impact of metallic and hybrid energy absorbing thin-walled tubes with poly-gonal cross-section is simulated using LS-DYNA software. The combined effects of changing the geometry and material properties on the mass specific energ...
